Is There a Post-UTME Exam for DELSU Science Education in 2025?

DELSU has completely changed their admission requirement for the department of Science Education. The school management is no longer conducting post UTME exams for student for the academic session of 2025/2026.

As of 2024 and the previous years, admission into the department of Science Education is based on your JAMB score which is 60% plus your post UTME exam score which is 40%, but for the 2025/2026 academic session your admission into the department of Science Education is based on your JAMB score which sum up to 70% and your O’ Level grades which is 30%.

This process has made things easier for student travelling from long distance to write the exam for a day and travel back the next day thereby reducing stress and inconveniences.

You need these subjects for Science Education aggregate calculation:

1. JAMB Subjects: English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics.
2. O’Level Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

How to Calculate Your DELSU Aggregate

DELSU has introduced a new admission system for the 2025/2026 academic session which comprises of your JAMB score (70%) and WAEC/NECO (30%).

This means no more Post UTME examinations, saving you the burden of traveling to Delta State, specifically Abraka, to write the exams.

Step 1 – Calculate Your JAMB Component

Note: Your JAMB score covers 70% of your admission and the WAEC/NECO 30%

Your JAMB score contributes 70% to your total aggregate using this formula: (Your JAMB Score ÷ 400) × 70.

To calculate this, divide your JAMB score by 400, then multiply the result by 70. For example, if you scored 215 in JAMB: 215 ÷ 400 = 0.54, then 0.54 × 70 = 37.8. Your JAMB aggregate is 37.8 out of 70 possible points.

Step 2 – Calculate Your O’Level Component

Your O’Level results contribute 30% to your aggregate based on a points system for grade

WAEC/NECO/GCE Points Breakdown

The calculation includes five topics: your four core JAMB subjects (English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics), as well as one additional applicable subject such as Geography or Economics. Simply add the points for these five subjects to acquire your O’Level component, which has a maximum of 30 points.

Here’s how to put everything together using a real example.

Student Profile: JAMB Score: 215, O’Level Results: C4, C4, C4, C4, C5.

JAMB Calculation: 215 ÷ 400 = 0.54, then 0.54 × 70 = 37.8 points.
