Is There a Post-UTME Exam for DELSU Language & Linguistics in 2025?

For the 2025/2026 academic session, DELSU is no longer conducting Post UTME for the department of Language & Linguistics in DELSU.

As of the 2024 and the previous years, DELSU conducts Post UTME exams(40% for student which is added to their JAMB score(60%) and an aggregate is gotten. This aggregate is what determines if you meet up the cut off mark for the department of Language & Linguistics or not.

How to Calculate Your DELSU Aggregate

The modified admission system comprises of your JAMB score which is 70% + O’ Level grades which is 30%. Unlike the previous system your admission into the department of Language & Linguistics was based on your JAMB score and Post UTME

Note: Your JAMB score now covers 70% of your admission and the WAEC/NECO 30%.

Your JAMB score contributes 70% to your total aggregate using this formula: (Your JAMB Score ÷ 400) × 70.

To calculate this, divide your JAMB score by 400, then multiply the result by 70. For example, if you scored 200 in JAMB: 270 ÷ 400 = 0.675, then 0.675 × 70 = 47.25. Your JAMB aggregate is 47.25 out of 70 possible points.

Step 2 – Calculate Your O’Level Component

Your O’Level results contribute 30% to your aggregate based on a points system for grade

WAEC/NECO/GCE Points Breakdown

The calculation includes five topics: your four core JAMB subjects (English Language, Literature in English, History and Commerce), as well as one additional applicable subject such as Geography or Economics. Simply add the points for these five subjects to acquire your O’Level component, which has a maximum of 30 points.

Here’s how to put everything together using a real example.

Student Profile: JAMB Score: 250, O’Level Results: A1, B2, C4, C5, C6

JAMB Calculation: 200 ÷ 400 = 0.625, then 0.675 × 70 = 47.25 points

O’Level Calculation: A1 (6) + A1 (6) + B2 (5) + B2 (5) + B3 (4) = 26 points

Final Aggregate: 47.35 + 17 = 73.35 out of 100
